Luis Suarez Comments On Facundo Pellistri After Atletico Madrid 1-0 Alaves

Facundo Pellistri received high praise during his breakthrough performance on loan.

The Manchester United starlet did not really have the senior team stint that he was expecting with the Red Devils after his acquisition in the summer transfer window.

As such, when he was sent on loan to Deportivo Alaves there was a mixed reaction. Many hoped that the exposure he’d get to La Liga football would do wonders to his overall development.

Now, the 19-year-old has gone and done just that having put up a great performance against table-leaders Atletico Madrid.

Even though Alaves lost the game 1-0, Pellistri’s impressive cameo was a big talking point. The youngster was particularly on-point in his dribbles, succeeding in 4 of the 5 he attempted. His pasing did leave room for improvement however, as did his finishing.

However, the fact that Luis Suarez’s winner put him in the rather exclusive 500-goal club ended up being the headline.

Nonetheless, Suarez had high praise for his young compatriot, taking to Instagram to congratulate him with the message: “A pleasure @facu_pellistri, continue like this and good things will come.”

Pellistri has a long career ahead and even if he manages to achieve a sliver of what the Uruguayan has done it will be a commendable feat.

As for Ole Gunnar Solskjær and company, hope will remain high that Pellistri is able to keep notching up these sort of performances. If the youngster is brought back into the team immediately after this loan spell ends, there is good precedent for him.

However, the presence of Amad Diallo in an already competitive forward line may make matters interesting.
