Man United have reportedly made significant progress in regards to agreeing a deal with Real Madrid for Raphael Varane.
The French international has less than a year left on his current contract and has refused to extend his stay at the Bernabeu. The defender sees Premier League as his ideal destination and it seems that his wish could come true very soon.
According to Spanish journalist Mario Cortegana, there is a growing ‘optimism’ between the two clubs that a solution to completing the deal will be found soon. And especially in the recent hours, there has been significant progress in negotiations.
Furthermore, Cortegana went on to report that the European giants have agreed to not delay the agreement in order to avoid putting everyone involved in an inconvenient situation. The deal is expected to be worth between €45 and €55 million.
The Frenchman is a formidable centre-back and many would argue he is worth every penny spent on him.
Things seem to be heading towards a positive direction and the deal looks likely to be wrapped up soon; one way or the other.
Varane would be the Mancunians’ second big swoop of the summer after having already secured Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a reported €85 million fee. The Premier League giants are close to pulling off a summer where key players of both Dortmund and Los Blancos would be prized away.
Moreover, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is building quite a squad and judging from his recently renewed contract, the higher-ups at Old Trafford believe in his vision. The 28-year-old is a fantastic addition to the roster who will finally give some security to the brilliant Harry Maguire.
