Manchester United Confirm The Signing Of Young Midfielder From Premier League Rivals
Manchester United have confirmed the arrival of Ethan Ennis from Liverpool after naming the young midfielder as one of their Professional Development Phase players for the new season.
Ennis is moving to Manchester after rejecting a new contract to continue his development at Merseyside earlier this summer.
Liverpool will be owed a development fee for the 16-year-old talent. The amount could be decided by a tribunal should the two Premier League rivals fail to find an agreement.
The attacking midfielder featured for the Reds under-18s last season, playing a pivotal role in their FA Youth Cup run.
Liverpool lost the prestigious honour to Aston Villa in the final, but Ennis impressed with his eye for goal, scoring a 22-minute hat-trick against Sutton United back in March. A 6-0 win set up a trip to Manchester in the fourth round of the competition.
Meanwhile, United have allowed Ethan Galbraith, also a midfielder, to join League One side Doncaster Rovers on loan for the 2021/22 campaign. Defensive midfielder James Garner is also expected to leave before the deadline, with multiple Championship sides interested in his services.
The Red Devils are also left with fewer than three weeks to address their midfield situation for the first-team. While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is blessed with number of attacking and central midfielders, he has only one holding player in Nemanja Matic.
