United Defender To Join Norwich City – Varane Likely To Replace Him In The Matchday Squad
Raphael Varane could be involved in Manchester United’s trip to Southampton this Sunday.
The Frenchman trained with the United squad for the first time on Monday following the completion of his transfer. Varane’s unveiling at Old Trafford kicked off a brilliant display against Leeds United though he could not feature in the fixture.
However, the defender is very likely to feature in his side’s next fixture in some capacity. Having not featured in the Mancunians’ outing against Burnley behind closed doors on Tuesday, he could finally make his debut. According to MEN, the French international could take the place of Brandon Williams in the matchday squad.
The fullback is in ‘advanced talks’ with Norwich City over a loan deal, as per Sky Sports. The Red Devils had been reluctant of loaning Williams out before but with Alex Telles covering for Luke Shaw this time around, they are open to the idea. The left-back also seems to be willing to make the switch to the Canaries.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are said to be willing to allow the move despite Telles’ injury that has ruled him out for the whole of August. But Diogo Dalo – who impressed the gaffer during preseason – is set to stay and make up for the Brazilian’s absence.
The United academy product will gain valuable experience under Daniel Farke which will be welcomed by the Manchester outfit.
Meanwhile, the focus is heavily on the former Real Madrid man now. United supporters are probably growing restless in anticipation of his debut. Although the 28-year-old likely lacks match fitness, one can speculate him to make at least a cameo towards the climax of the upcoming match at Saint Mary’s Stadium.
