How Raphael Varane Fared In Manchester United Training So Far
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed how Raphael Varane has done in training since he joined Manchester United.
The Frenchman was presented as a Red Devil last week but did not get involved in his side’s win against Leeds United. Varane has been since involved in just training sessions and is yet to make his debut.
However, it seems as if the defender is already making lasting impressions at training. United’s brand new signing has impressed Solskjaer already, who is now a big fan of his training etiquette and mentality.
“He’s [Varane] been humble, inquisitive,” said the gaffer. “He asks questions, he doesn’t want to learn by a mistake in the game but on the training field before he goes on the pitch. Everything about him has been impressive.”
Clearly, the world champion has clearly made the right first impressions. He was a leader and key figure at Real Madrid as well, so it is only natural the French international has brought the same approach to England. Now the only question is when fans will get to see him step on the pitch for the first time as a United player.
When quizzed about the centre-back’s debut ahead of their clash against Southampton next week, the Norwegian manager gave a very vague response. Long story short, the former Cardiff City boss implied that everyone will just have to wait and see when the time comes.
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is also awaiting his first start since his switch to Old Trafford. If things fall into place by Sunday, United supporters could finally see both of their club’s biggest signings of recent times start.
Sancho made a short cameo against Leeds last week, but it remains to be seen whether the boss will switch the system up after reaping a grand result thanks to it.
