Camavinga To United Depends On Outgoings – ‘Keep An Eye On Van De Beek’

Manchester United’s midfield vulnerabilities were exposed yet again in a 1-1 stalemate at Southampton.

Nemanja Matic partnered Fred in the middle of the park, as Scott McTominay – who was a combative presence against Leeds United in the opening Premier League weekend – was on the bench at St Mary’s due to an ongoing struggle with injuries.

The midfield duo of Matic and Fred never seemed comfortable in possession against Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men, highlighting just how limited options Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has in midfield.

Nevertheless, there’s still time to make amends, as the transfer window remains open for another week and Eduardo Camavinga has been placed on the transfer list by Rennes.

The French prodigy, who’s also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain, is more dynamic and better on the ball than any other midfielder at Carrington currently bar Paul Pogba. But the World Cup winner is now effectively playing as a left-winger at United, further escalating the need for a new midfield addition.

However, as per Fabrizio Romano via Twitch, for the English giants to sign Camavinga, outgoings through the Old Trafford doors need to be sorted out first. At this stage, there’s no official bid from either United or PSG for the 18-year-old’s signature.

Donny van de Beek was an unused substitute in both of his side’s matches, and his situation, however unlikely, could end up having a big say on how things play out in the market at the tail end of the summer.

The Italian journalist has suggested to ‘keep an eye’ on the Dutchman because he really wants to play. By the looks of it, the former Ajax man isn’t the answer to United’s midfield issues and is more likely to shine elsewhere than in England.

However, the Red Devils may have left it far too late already.
