Raphael Varane certainly saw the full potential of the Old Trafford faithful when he was accepted wholeheartedly by a capacity crowd at his official unveiling.
While the Frenchman still awaits his debut to make the best use of his arsenal of international experience and ace defending, he now has another joy to look forward to.
Varane will be eager to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford. The Frenchman was paired with the Portuguese superstar at Real Madrid to scintillating acclaim. During their shared time at the Bernabeu, the duo won almost everything that is to be attained in club football, with their domestic and European trysts illustrating the top-of-the-game performances in their respective thirds of the field.
Now, that same pedigree of excellence can be aped at United and the defender’s reaction to Ronaldo’s transfer says it all.

The pictures are from their glory days at Madrid wherein the side set a benchmark for a team which simply could not be dissuaded from piling on the silverware.
At Old Trafford, trophies have been a mute affair and the decade without a title that can truly be paraded about, is bound to sting.
In this respect, these two signings, more than that of Jadon Sancho which is a bet at future proofing, illustrate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s intent for top-flight honours this season itself. Together, there is heaps of international experience and Champions League brilliance in them.
As such, United must really clean up their act and attempt to target top spots in both of the major competitions. Supporters of the side will certainly be dreaming about those laurels after this transfer window, but that does not change the kind of business done by the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, and PSG either.
