Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival to the Red side of Manchester has opened up the Premier League title race.
It pegs the United attack on par with both City and Chelsea. Further, the Portuguese forward’s decision to snub Pep Guardiola’s side also keeps them in sight of other challengers as now the Sky Blues are left with no quality centre-forward in their frontline.
Further, both the Mancunian giants have been linked with Erling Braut Haaland, and it is anticipated that Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford might end up having an impact on the next summer transfer window as well.
Currently, the Etihad outfit are seemingly in more need of a new forward, while on paper, at least, the Red Devils’ attack looks versatile.
Regardless, Haaland remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority transfer target, with United not altering their long-term transfer objective of signing the Borussia Dortmund striker, reports ESPN.
It is understood that the 21-year-old striker has a release clause set at at €75 million in his contract. And despite United going all out to sign Ronaldo and potentially making him the highest paid player the English League has ever seen, they believe they have resources to ‘win the race’ for the Norwegian.
If anything, the club view the presence of Ronaldo at Carrington strengthening their bid to lure Haaland due to the youngster’s admiration for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
