Jadon Sancho’s time in the red half of Manchester hasn’t started the way he would have hoped for.
The former Man City starlet opted to return to England with Man United after learning his trade and establishing himself at Borussia Dortmund.
His first Manchester derby was always going to be a cagey affair due to the way he left Pep Guardiola’s side, and a section of City supporters at Old Trafford made sure to let Sancho know their opinion of him.
The 21-year-old was left on the bench by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Saturday, but with United trailing 1-0 just after seven minutes of action, he was instructed to warm up before the break, as the hosts looked to get back into the game.
As he warmed up down the touchline, City fans chanted “City reject, City reject” towards their former academy talent. He was introduced at the start of the second half, but failed to make any impact, with the visitors maintaining their dominance for the entirety of the 90 minutes.
One of the key reasons behind Sancho’s departure from City was the lack of assurance of playing time. Unfortunately, the Englishman has found himself in a similar situation at his new club, starting in only one of United’s last six league games.
He’s yet to score or assist in a red shirt, and has also been left out of the England squad for November’s World Cup qualifiers.
However, Sancho can use the international break to train more under Solskjaer at Carrington, and give himself a better chance to start against Watford.
