Ralf Ragnick says he has never seen a player as fit as Cristiano Ronaldo at his age.
The Portuguese icon was the star of the show against Arsenal, with Rangnick in attendance at the Theatre of Dreams.
Ronaldo scored twice in the second-half to ensure a winning end to Michael Carrick’s time at Manchester United, while also impressing his new manager with his fitness.
In particular, he stunned the Old Trafford crowd by running the length of the pitch to hit Arsenal on the counter in the 87th minute, despite being injured.
There have been concerns that the 36-year-old wouldn’t have a future under the German coach, as he’s too old to adhere to a high-pressing style.
However, if his efforts against Arsenal, and Rangnick’s consequent reaction to it, is anything to go by, he’s not only going to start regularly, but play a crucial role during Rangnick’s six-month spell in the dugout.
🗣 "At his age I've never seen a player who is still that physically fit."

Further, the 63-year-old insisted that it’s his job to adapt his approach to suit the talents at his disposal, not vice versa.
No matter which ideas Rangnick tries to implement at Carrington, one thing is for sure, Ronaldo will keep delivering in front of the goal. On Thursday, he became the first player in history to score 800 career goals in official matches.
