Manchester United Agree Deal To Sign Midfielder From Brighton
Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Toby Collyer from Brighton and Hove Albion.
The highly rated midfielder, who has captained England at youth level, will move to United’s youth team, as per The Secret Scout (via Fabrizio Romano).
Collyer has not made any senior appearance for Brighton, and has only featured once in the U18 Premier League this season, but is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in the country.
With James Garner impressing at Nottingham Forest, and Isak Hansen-Aaroen developing well at U18 and U23 levels – in Collyer United now have another top midfield prospect at their disposal.
However, at the moment only Garner seems ready for first-team action at Old Trafford. The 20-year-old is enjoying another good season at Nottingham, having been directly involved in five goals in his last seven appearances across all competitions.
Despite being short in the middle of the park, the Red Devils decided against recalling Garner during the January transfer window, but he’s expected to be given a proper chance at staying at United.
Meanwhile, the Sun reports his impressive spell in the Championship has attracted interest from Leeds United and Southampton, with United open to letting Garner go on loan to a Premier League side next campaign.
