Erik ten Hag refused to give away too much when questioned about his future after a reported interview with Manchester United.
The Ajax boss has emerged as the leading man to take charge at Old Trafford. He has held official talks with United following Ajax’s permission, and it is understood the interview was positive.
The United hierarchy are impressed by his two rebuilding jobs, as well as the distinctive style of play at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
As per Sky Sports, they have already started the process of gathering information regarding a potential compensation figure they would owe Ajax.
However, Ten Hag remains coy on the subject, insisting he’s focused on completing the season with Ajax, who find themselves in a close title race. The Eredivisie leaders are just two points ahead of second-placed PSV.
“Everyone knows each other in the industry. There are always talks with representatives from other clubs, that’s normal,” he said to German publication Sport1.
“Manchester United is a great club with great fans, but I can only repeat myself: my full focus is completely on Ajax. We are already planning for the new season. I’ve sat down with Ajax after every season so far. That will also be the case this time.”
Despite affirming his commitment to Ajax, he refused to rule out the possibility of joining the Red Devils.
With United keen to finalise the appointment in the coming weeks, Ten Hag might have to make a decision on his future before the end of the season.
