‘Final Details’ – Man United Close To Agreeing Deal To Sell England International
Nottingham Forest are making progress in their pursuit to sign Dean Henderson from Man United.
Forest are set to play in the Premier League for the first time since 1999. But their new era kicked off on the wrong note, as play-off semi-final hero Brice Samba refused to sign a new contract. The goalkeeper is set to leave the club this summer, with Ligue 1 outfit Lens interested in his services.
Nevertheless, the Reds are determined to build on their progress under Steve Cooper, and have quickly approached United to sign the England international.
Henderson has already given the green light to join Forest, and the move is now understood to be at an advanced stage.
The only obstacle at the moment is that United want the deal to be a straight loan for the upcoming season, while Forest are pushing to add an option to buy.
Regardless, the English goalkeeper is expected to move to Forest, provided the final details of the deal are completed, the Sky Sports have reported.
During the 2020/21 campaign, Henderson impressed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and managed to oust David de Gea from the No 1 spot at United. However, last season he only made three appearances and was overlooked by Ralf Rangnick despite the Spaniard’s shaky form.
The 25-year-old has no intention to spend another season on the bench, and is open to leave his boyhood club despite a managerial change.
