Ten Hag Prepared To Let Van De Beek Leave In A Swap Deal For Star Midfielder
Erik ten Hag’s arrival has given Donny van de Beek a renewed hope of making it at Manchester United, but the Dutch coach has reportedly different plans.
United have done well in pre-season, scoring eight goals and conceding just once in their first two games. Van de Beek featured against both Liverpool and Melbourne Victory and didn’t disappoint.
However, Ten Hag remains keen on strengthening his midfield and continues to chase Frenkie de Jong’s services. But the stand-off between De Jong and Barcelona over deferred wages has left United’s pursuit of the Netherlands midfielder in limbo.
If reports from Italy are to be believed, the Red Devils have switched their focus to sign another midfield star. According to CMW (via Manchester Evening News), United are interested in AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer, who is valued at £38m by the Serie A champions.
In order to sweeten the deal and lower Milan’s asking price, United are prepared to offer Van de Beek in a swap deal for the 24-year-old, who’s capable of playing as a Number 6 and is very good in possession.
Meanwhile, the former Ajax playmaker is unlikely to get regular minutes in his preferred Number 10 position ahead of Bruno Fernandes, as well as new arrival Christian Eriksen, and might benefit from moving to another club.
