Mourinho Trying To Sign Man Utd Star – He Was Impressive During Pre-Season
Jose Mourinho continues to monitor Old Trafford stars to strengthen his squad in Rome.
The iconic gaffer is looking to build on the Europa Conference League success and bring Champions League football for the Giallorossi faithful. His determination to return to Europe’s elite competition is evident by Roma’s activity in this summer’s transfer window.
Paulo Dybala is very much the show-stopper in the Stadio Olimpico, but the Portuguese has also made – and is still targeting – some shrewd additions.
Nemanja Matic was convinced by his former boss to move to the Italian capital instead of staying in the North West of England for another year.
Mourinho is hoping for another reunion, and is interested in bringing in Eric Bailly. The Ivorian centre-back was ex-United manager’s first signing at the Theatre of Dreams in 2016.
However, as per Sky Sports‘ Dharmesh Sheth, the 28-year-old first wants to speak to Erik ten Hag regarding game time. He was given ample opportunity during the pre-season tour and was impressive defensively, and even contributed to the attack by giving two assists.
If Ten Hag fails to assure him regular minutes, Bailly ‘would welcome’ a chance to talk to Mourinho.
Considering that the Dutchman already has Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, as well as new arrival Lisandro Martinez as centre-back options, Mourinho’s first signing will be better off moving to AS Roma.
