“He’s causing mayhem” – Garnacho Was Unstoppable In Man United’s 4-2 Win
Manchester United progressed into the last 16 of the Carabao Cup after putting four past Aston Villa.
The second meeting between the two sides in four days saw Villa go ahead twice, leading to fears of another frustrating result against Unai Emery’s side.
As soon as Leon Bailey’s header went into the net after a deflection off Diogo Dalot, Erik ten Hag looked at his bench to avoid an early cup exit. And the introduction of Alejandro Garnacho in the 62nd minute proved to be an excellent decision.
The academy talent’s pace and energy acted as a breath of fresh air at the Theatre of Dreams that Villa’s backline failed to handle.
The memorable cameo saw Garnacho register two assists. In particular, his dink ball to Scott McTominay for United’s fourth goal showed he’s capable of creating a goal out of nowhere.

Garnacho is something else. What a prospect. You can tell the rest of the players think so considering they’re constantly looking for him.

That pass was soo good I thought it was Eriksen. Some impact from Garnacho. McTominay has been so much better next to Eriksen. #mufc

Garnacho is causing mayhem out there now. Running straight at the Villa defence. They are struggling to contain the teenager.

These are the kind of cameos that make an academy youngster a regular first-team starter.
Marcus Rashford, who scored the second equaliser on Thursday night, became a crowd favourite by showing the willingness and courage to run at defences. In a handful of appearances, Garnacho has displayed similar traits.
If the Argentine keeps performing like this on a regular basis, he could end up giving a proper challenge to Rashford as well as Jadon Sancho for the place on the left flank.
