Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel interested in signing Manchester United star
Thomas Tuchel’s era at Bayern Munich has had a tumultuous start, with the club going from chasing a treble to fighting to ensure they don’t go trophyless for the first time in 10 years.
The former Chelsea man succeeded Julian Naglesmann at the Allianz Arena after the Bayern hierarchy deemed that the 35-year-old head coach wasn’t getting the best out of the talents at his disposal. There were concerns over his management style as well.
But Tuchel’s second game in charge early in April showed that problems ran deeper than the man in charge. Freiburg knocked Bayern out of the DFB-Pokal and ended their treble aspirations. Champions League embarrassment at the hands of Manchester City followed a few days later.
Bayern headed into the match week 30 a point behind Borussia Dortmund. Tuchel’s former club dropped two points over the weekend, providing his current team an opportunity to claim the first spot on the Bundesliga table. With a 2-0 win over Hertha, Bayern did just that. However, considering their form, it won’t surprise many if Dortmund manage to leapfrog them once again and secure the league title.

Even if Bayern end the season without any silverware, Tuchel is unlikely to face any repercussions. Instead, the German giants are expected to back their manager in the transfer market.
According to Kicker in Germany (via the Manchester Evening News), Tuchel is interested in signing United midfielder Casemiro this summer.
The suggestion seems far-fetched, as the Brazilian star only moved to Manchester United less than 10 months ago. He has enjoyed a solid season at Old Trafford and there are no plans to let him leave.
Instead, Bayern are more likely to sell more midfielders. Marcel Sabitzer, currently on loan at United, is not thought to be in their plans, and Ryan Gravenberch could also be on the move in the summer after failing to get regular minutes in Munich.
