Man Utd interested in former Ajax player available on free transfer after Antony saga

Manchester United find themselves in a tricky situation after mutually agreeing to delay Antony’s return to the club after the international break. This comes on the back of a public disagreement between Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho.
After the Arsenal defeat, Ten Hag claimed Sancho’s absence from the matchday squad was due to his failure to impress in training. The Englishman took no time in going against the manager’s word and through a post on social media, insisted: “I have conducted myself in training very well this week.”
Accordingly, there’s now a lot of uncertainty concerning reliable options going forward, especially on the wings, at United. The predicament has opened doors for new transfer links despite the end of the summer transfer window.
Manchester United linked with former Ajax winger
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are ‘weighing up’ a move to sign Anwar El Ghazi. The Dutch winger made 70 appearances for Ajax before moving to Lille in 2017. He also has plenty of Premier League experience, having played for Aston Villa and Everton.
The 28-year-old is available as a free agent and would be able to move to Old Trafford now after deciding to depart PSV Eindhoven last week.
As far as availability is concerned, El Ghazi indeed seems like a good option. But quality-wise, a winger who’s failed to impress at Aston Villa and Everton, is unlikely to make much difference at United.
The best thing for United would be Sancho’s return to the fold. However, in the event Ten Hag and the player decide against patching things up, Facundo Pellistri could emerge as an exciting option to play on the right flank. The Uruguayan has more or less always delivered encouraging cameo appearances, and now might be the perfect time for him to show his talents from minute one.
