Fabrizio Romano gives update on futures of Antony and Jadon Sancho amid exit rumours
The summer transfer window did not seem too far past and already the winter looms closer. For Manchester United, a fresh crop of issues is there to be solved, even as ownership anxiety makes any fresh funding likewise questionable.
The summer reinforcements are yet to fire fully and there are deficits from that window to be filled as well. Further, the club has to address fresh injury concerns and look for some replacements in certain areas for that too.
However, reports are suggesting that this window will be crucial to decide the immediate future of two forwards who dominated recent headlines for their off-the-pitch actions.
Anthony to Stay, Sancho to Leave
Fabrizio Romano reports that claims of Antony leaving Manchester United are not true and that the Brazilian forward is set to stay. There were reports of the 23-year-old moving to Brazil with the likes of Flamengo being touted as possible outfits. Any swap deal for Gabigol is also denied. The same report also ruled out any loan move for the former Ajax star who was involved in legal and PR disputes regarding alleged actions pertaining to a past relationship.
During the investigation period, Antony was on a break from on-field action but has failed to return to adequate form upon resumption of regular club duties. This is to add to the general form woes and criticism that he has been facing due to his expensive price-tag.
Romano goes on to suggest that Jadon Sancho’s future is sealed and that the English forward is expected to leave in January. The starlet had a public spat with gaffer Erik ten Hag and has since been sidelined. His expected departure will come as a surprise to no one although it will be interesting to see whether it will initially materialize as a loan move.
