Erling Haaland took to Instagram to share his thoughts on Jadon Sancho, who’s nearing Manchester United exit.

It’s not very often you see players praise their counterparts, especially if they play for your fierce rivals, without being directly asked about them in interviews or social media Q&As.

However, Manchester City striker Haaland took time to share his thoughts on Sancho’s quality through his Instagram story. The prolific striker shared a picture of the two celebrating Borussia Dortmund’s success in the German Cup. He added a caption, which read: “Proper baller that.”

The timing of it all is equally interesting, as Sancho is strongly being linked with a return to Dortmund this January.

According to The Athletic, the two clubs are in discussions over a loan move for the United winger, with Dortmund understood to be keen on a reunion.

The England international is currently banished from first-team activities at Carrington after publicly falling out with Erik ten Hag. The pair have shown no signs of patching things up, with Sancho refusing to apologize for his social media post which seemingly disagreed with the United gaffer’s team selection.

Since September, Sancho has been training away from the club’s senior side, and now it seems his next appearance will be in Dortmund colours.

Both Haaland and Sancho swapped Dortmund for Manchester, but they’ve enjoyed very contrasting fortunes in the city. The City talisman has regularly been involved in goals, leading his side to Premier League and Champions League glories in his maiden season. The United man, meanwhile, has struggled to show his talent under three different managers.

How United fans would see Sancho’s return to Dortmund remains unclear, but it seems Haaland is excited to follow his former teammates’ progress moving forward.
