Serie A manager emerging as strong contender to replace Erik ten Hag
Manchester United have purportedly identified Thiago Motta as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag.
Erik ten Hag’s days at Old Trafford are going from bad to worse. The club’s Premier League standing has been horrendous of late and nothing that the gaffer tries on the pitch appears to be clicking.
To add to this are instances of dressing room drama. All of the above points to a rather predictable outcome for a manager in the top flight of English football.
However, it is not sure whether SJR and company will give Ten Hag the boot just yet. Having said that, this hasn’t stopped them from looking elsewhere.
Thiago Motta being considered as Erik ten Hag’s replacement
As per Caught Offside, Thiago Motta is amongst the names under consideration to replace Ten Hag if the latter is given the boot this summer. Motta is a promising managerial name and his antics with Bologna have certainly been promising.
The Serie A boss is being viewed precisely for the style of football that he has successfully framed with the Italian outfit, who sit fourth in the league.
Interestingly, this was also one of the factors which first put the former Ajax head coach on United’s radar not too many seasons ago.
Likewise, it is understood that other experienced names are also being considered by the footballing heads at United but it is Motta who is emerging as a strong candidate. As a young manager, he will certainly bring to the club a promising array of energy and vitality.
However, it is to be asked whether Ten Hag deserves a proper shot with decent backing and players of his choice. Of late, he hasn’t been showing much promise in that regard.
