Up-and-coming talent Dante Plunkett has been acquired by Manchester United following a trial period with the club.
Even though the times are bad for Manchester United, especially with injuries to key personnel and troubling tactics on display from the manager, there has been a consistent silver lining.
The Red Devils have always prided themselves on giving youngsters from their famed academy a regular chance at breaking into the first team. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay would not have become the squad regulars that they are today if not for this trend.
More recently, the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have shown the full merit behind this philosophy and to great success.
Now, another promising name has been added to the academy from which such greatness emerged.
New Manchester United signing Dante Plunkett impressed at Aston Villa
Manchester United have successfully signed Dante Plunkett, who previously played at Aston Villa, as per MEN.
The U-18s youngster is a promising left-back and will have plenty of development at his disposal at Carrington and hopefully at some point at the Theatre of Dreams itself.
Incidentally, a left-back is precisely what the club needs as injuries have marred their first-choice options in Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. However, it is clear that Plunkett will need plenty more time before he is able to break through into that list.

Moreover, such an acquisition also shows that the Academy is keen on its recruitment policy and are making smart purchases, probably in the hope of developing them well and then cashing on a possible sale in the future.
Which avenue awaits Plunkett is yet to be seen, but the flankman has certainly joined a thriving set-up.
