Anthony Martial as a player epitomizes all that has been wrong with Manchester United in terms of injuries.

At his best, the striker is a decent finisher of the ball and his remarkable 90 goals for the Red Devils is a testament to the same.

However, the former Monaco star simply hasn’t been able to stay fit for long enough to have those goals count towards something.

Both Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney were part of a Sky Sports panel discussing this precise issue.

Keane did not mince words when speaking about the persistence of the injury crisis faced by a few of the side’s players, stating (via MEN Sports): “If you are constantly injured, you are no good to anybody. OK, every club will have its few injuries.

“But there are certain players in that group there you are going ‘they are always injured’. You can’t rely on these players to turn up week in and week out and play for Man United.”

Rooney replied on a personal note, stating: “It is like Martial for instance, I have played with him. He is a very nice guy. But where has he been? I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen him play. What’s up with him?”

Martial will truly be a free agent come summer and his well-wishers will really be hoping the Frenchman will be able to resume his career in good flair and put his injury issues to rest in meaningful fashion.

In fact, there may even be those supporters who will be optimistic about Martial aping his early career heroics and scoring a late wonder goal in the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley.
