Manchester United forward confirms he is leaving before FA Cup final

Charlie McNeill will leave Manchester United as his contract has come to an end.

As bad as this season was for Manchester United, their youngsters truly redeemed plenty of joy.

A youthful investment like Rasmus Hojlund brought much hope for the future even as academy graduates Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo truly came into their best form this campaign.

This speaks volumes about the success of the club’s famed academy, but this does not extend to all graduates.

In fact, Charlie McNeill will become the latest player to leave the side after a string of loan spells and development attempts did not pan out as intended.

A highly-rated striker, McNeill is a contemporary of Garnacho and Mainoo and was once rated to be the next big striker at Old Trafford after his prodigal return from Manchester City’s youth setup.

However, that did not pan out and the youngster penned an emotional farewell message, stating: “My time has now come to an end at Manchester United and I would just like to say thank you to all the coaches, staff, fans and everyone involved at the club for the best 4 years ever.”

McNeill, who attracted the spotlight for supposedly scoring more than 600 goals at youth level, departs Old Trafford with just one senior appearance under his belt. He becomes a free agent upon the expiration of his contract.

Interestingly, a new striker is someone United will be in the market for this transfer window as a replacement for the presumably outgoing Anthony Martial will be long overdue.
