Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has given his verdict on the club’s decision to continue with Erik Ten Hag at the helm.
Multiple reports have confirmed that Manchester United’s lengthy end-of-season review, which lasted longer than two weeks and saw other managers sounded out for the role, has finally concluded.
The Old Trafford outfit has not only decided to stick with Erik Ten Hag, but also started negotiations over a contract extension for the Dutchman.

A majority of the football pundits and analysts have publicly dubbed Ten Hag unfit to continue as Manchester United manager, but Paul Scholes hasn’t been one of them.
Reacting to the news, Scholes wrote on his Instagram page: “Nice to wake up to this news (Ten Hag staying) although I think Palace away felt like the end.”
Then looking ahead to next season, he added: “Major improvements needed but at least we have a bit of continuity and don’t have to wait for a new regime to settle in. Fans have given him and the players incredible support and deserve better next season.”
His latest reaction resembles his thoughts following United’s 3-1 defeat against Manchester City back in March. Even then, he believed the club’s new hierarchy would decide against continuing with Ten Hag — a move he did not think would be right.
When asked if he thought Ten Hag would still be in charge next season, Scholes had opined (via Mirror): “I think they [INEOS] have already made their mind up. I don’t think he will be there next season. No.
“From the interviews we’ve heard with Sir Jim, I thought there was a little bit of negativity towards the club the last 10 or 11 years and especially the last two years. I don’t think he’s happy with what’s going on. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re looking for a new manager now. I’m not saying it’s the right decision.”
