Diogo Jota has admitted that Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes is a better finisher than Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah.
Over the course of his footballing career, Jota has shared the pitch with several talented players. However, the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Mohamed Salah are sure to be among the most talented of the lot.
On one hand, Jota and Salah have both been vital parts of the lethal Liverpool strike force that enjoyed tremendous success under Jurgen Klopp in recent years.
On the other, compatriots Jota and Fernandes are currently united in their mission to lead Portugal to European Championship glory this summer. In fact, both players did their bit on Tuesday night, when Roberto Martinez’s side won their crucial opener against Czech Republic.
Now, drawing comparisons is a basic human trait, so one can’t help but wonder which of these two teammates Jota rates more highly. Thankfully, the 27-year-old has already blessed us with an answer.
Diogo Jota hails Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes’ finishing ability
In a recent interview by Goal, Diogo Jota was asked to compare his shooting ability to that of his Liverpool teammates, Mohamad Salah and Darwin Nunez. The Portuguese international put himself on top of the list, ranking Salah second and Nunez third.
He was then asked to do the same with his Portugal teammates, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo. Much to most people’s surprise, he responded: “Oof! I might have to go last here. Cristiano, Bruno and me.”
These honest assessments by Jota are sure to make some Liverpool fans uncomfortable—understandably so, considering the heated nature of arch-rivalry they share with Manchester United.

As for Bruno, his shooting abilities and a plethora of other footballing talents were on full display during the recently-concluded 2023-24 season.
While the campaign was an underwhelming one for United, the playmaker’s performances still managed to earn him his third Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.
Can Fernandes emulate those performances at EURO 2024 as well? Time will tell.
