Manchester United have received the first bid for their in-demand starlet Mason Greenwood, reports indicate.

Owing to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, the Red Devils’ summer plans are extremely limited this time around. At present, they can only manage to have a net spend of around £50m, and no more.

The only scenario where they can inflate their transfer budget is if they manage to sell some of their existing squad members. And the player that could earn them the biggest transfer fee this summer is none other than Mason Greenwood.

Manchester United receive £30m Greenwood bid

Having enjoyed a successful loan spell at Getafe last season, which saw him bag 10 goals and 6 assists in 36 appearances, Greenwood has attracted interest from all across Europe.

The latest addition to this list of suitors is Italian outfit Lazio—a club that was also interested in signing the forward on loan last summer.

According to The Times, Lazio has now made the first move in this brewing transfer battle, with their bid amounting to £30 million.

However, United are in no rush to sell their academy graduate, considering he has also attracted attention from the likes of Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Considering this widespread interest, the Reds are hoping that a bidding war ensues for Greenwood, ultimately earning them north of £40 million for the talented starlet.

But the tougher part would come once a transfer fee is agreed, as United may then have to convince the 22-year-old that the best financial offer for them is also the best possible destination for Greenwood to continue his footballing career.
