Manchester United have been linked with Sergio Reguilón on the back of the Spaniard’s impressive stint at Brentford.

Manchester United find themselves in the same position they were last summer with regards to their left-back situation.

Question marks remain over Luke Shaw’s fitness and Tyrell Malacia – who has also struggled with injuries – is yet to show that he is ready to become a regular left-back under Erik ten Hag.

The same conundrum forced United to sign Reguilón on loan from Tottenham Hotspur last summer. Now, it appears they are considering re-signing him ahead of the new season.

Sergio Reguilón struggled to impress at Manchester United during his last stint, leading to the Red Devils ending his loan spell in January itself.

Tottenham Hotspur then decided to loan the former Real Madrid man to Brentford, where he seemingly found his feet, assisting four assists in 16 appearances.

This resurgence in the 27-year-old’s form is reportedly unlikely to extend his stay at Spurs, however, the same has led to interest from United, West Ham, and Juventus.

According to AS, United have expressed interest in the versatile the Spain international, who is ‘more than ready to face the next challenge of his career.’

There’s no denying Reguilón was brilliant under Thomas Frank at Brentford. However, his injury record is worrying.

Considering Shaw and Malacia’s own fitness struggles, it is best United look elsewhere to strengthen their left flank.
