Manchester United have made yet another formal offer for one of their key defensive targets, according to reports.
The Red Devils’ activity in the transfer market has been a cause for excitement for their own fans and amazement for others. Having already wrapped up the Joshua Zirkzee deal, the English outfit is currently focusing on sealing the deal for Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt.
In parallel, the 20-time English champions have also been testing the price tag Everton have slapped on their prized centre-back, Jarrad Branthwaite. Sources suggest United most recently submitted an improved offer in the region of £45m plus £5m in add-ons for the 22-year-old Englishman.
And now, it looks like the new club co-owners INEOS have made yet another formal approach, this time for a young centre-back hailing from France.
Manchester United table formal offer for Leny Yoro; Lille respond
According to journalist Nabil Djellit, Manchester United have made a written, formal offer for the services of Lille defender, Leny Yoro.
Said to be worth €50 million plus bonuses, the offer is far “superior” than the one Real Madrid have made for the highly rated youngster, dubbed by many as the next Raphael Varane.
The Old Trafford outfit has been a firm admirer of Yoro, having made its interest in the youngster clear for the best part of a year. And now, the Premier League juggernauts have finally formalised their interest by stepping up with a significant offer.
Providing an update on this saga, journalist Fabrizio Romano had indicated that United’s €50m plus bid for Yoro has been accepted by Lille. Furthermore, the club has also insisted the player accept the offer, as this offer remains “the best proposal on their table”.
The starlet is currently in the final year of his contract at the French club, which could make this the final window where Lille may be able to generate significant profit on the talent.
However, this bid doesn’t guarantee Yoro’s transfer to the Theatre of Dreams, as Real Madrid retain interest in the defender’s services. The player, too, is said to be waiting for the Galacticos to make a formal offer, having preferred a move to the Spanish capital all along.
Having paid the price, United must now convince the player that Manchester is the best place for him to ply his trade in the coming years.
