Chelsea have reportedly expressed an interest in signing a former Manchester United midfielder, and this potential transfer may end up benefiting the Red Devils, too.
The Blues’ midfield department is likely to undergo some reshuffling this summer, with Conor Gallagher heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Previous reports indicated that his future will be decided after EURO 2024. And now that the continental competition is over, an update on this transfer saga should emerge sometime soon.
Meanwhile, sources in Brazil have revealed that Chelsea have already identified a new midfield target, which they may bring in to replace the 24-year-old Englishman.
The update is quite surprising for two reasons: firstly, it’s an unexpected target, and secondly, this potential signing could end up benefiting their rivals, Manchester United.

According to Brazilian media outlet Globo, Chelsea have identified Andreas Pereira as their ideal replacement for Conor Gallagher.
They have already established contact with his agent Kia Joorabchian, so as to enquire about the player’s future plans.
New head coach Enzo Maresca appears to have approved Pereira already, which means a move is likely to be made once Chelsea receive a green light from the 28-year-old. The fee Chelsea plan to offer is expected to be in the range of £30-35 million.

If this transfer materialises, it will bring a surprise gift to Manchester United, who have included a 20% sell-on clause in Pereira’s Fulham contract.
This means even if we consider the lower limit of the transfer range, about £6 million could come the Red Devils’ way this summer, further bolstering their transfer kitty.
Since his move to Fulham, Pereira has been quite impressive for the Cottagers. His displays even earned him a call-back to the Brazil national team, and if all goes well, a move to the 5-time Premier League winners may soon follow.
