United working on signing Arsenal forward who is ready to snub Arteta’s project
Manchester United are reportedly pursuing Chido Obi-Martin, who is considered one of the brightest young talents from Arsenal’s youth academy.
The young striker moved to the London club from Danish team KB back in 2022, and has since impressed at multiple age-group levels. He even grabbed headlines back in November last year, when he scored 10 goals against Liverpool in Arsenal under-16s’s 14-3 win!
The 16-year-old also featured for Denmark in the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification campaign, scoring twice in three group stage games.
Owing to his performances, Arsenal have been eager to tie him down, even offering him a scholarship deal following the expiry of his schoolboy terms. But the forward appears to have rejected the offer, and is currently considering other options.
Manchester United among prime suitors for Chido Obi-Martin
According to The Athletic, Manchester United are actively exploring a deal to sign Chido Obi-Martin. While heavily active in the ongoing summer transfer window, the Red Devils appear to be simultaneously pursuing promising starlets at academy level as well.
There have already been concrete developments in this youth transfer saga, which many on social media are referring to as RVP 2.0 due to the young striker’s abilities and association with Arsenal.
Just last week, Chido visited United’s Carrington training facilities to examine his next potential destination. Both parties are in discussions over a move, although they currently appear to be in early stages, the report adds.
It might ultimately come down to the player to decide which club he wants to turn into a professional at. He has a host of options, but contrary to some reports, Manchester City aren’t among them.
Old Trafford’s newest arrival, the generational defensive talent Leny Yoro, recently suggested Manchester United is one of the best places for youngsters to develop.
It will be interesting to see whether these comments have any influence on Chido Obi-Martin, who also belongs to the same young sensation category.
