La Liga side want to sign Ten Hag’s biggest flop signing
Antony could see interest from Spain take him away from Manchester United.
As Manchester United tumble down into unfavourable stat after stat, the scapegoats have been plenty. Fans and pundits alike have descended into the players whose attitude and lack of performance seem to be at the core of an unprecedented poor run of games from the Red Devils.
While they haven’t exactly been at the top of their glory days since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, occasional glimmers of success with the likes of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well as priceless silverware from Louis Van Gaal and Erik ten Hag kept some semblance of hope.
But off late, the personnel haven’t been delivering and many players have been specifically targeted for this drop.
Chief amongst them is Antony with the Brazilian’s eye-watering price tag giving his sordid displays an even more disappointing look. As such, it comes as no surprise that the club might wash their hands off him and interest has been indicated.
According to ABC, Real Betis are interested on a January transfer for the winger. It is understood that a loan deal, at least initially, is being floated by the La Liga side.
Of course, Antony hasn’t entirely been shunned away by Ruben Amorim with the Portuguese boss even specifying that the player could fight his way back to the first team if he puts in enough effort.
Having said that, the gaffer’s potential hope towards the former Ajax star doesn’t align with financial expectations. There is no clear way for the Old Trafford outfit to do any business in January if they do not first offload players. Thus, clearing the wage bills and potentially making some smart sales might trump any desire towards second chances in the locker room.
The window is still fairly young and it will be interesting to see how this fledging saga pans out.
