How much Manchester United will ask for Chelsea target Kobbie Mainoo
Manchester United are allegedly looking for at least £70 million for any potential sale of Kobbie Mainoo.
The transfer windows, both the ongoing January one and the upcoming summer do not look too good for Man United. Despite boasting of fresh leadership and some cash injection, PSR rules strictly restrict what the side can and cannot do with respect to ins and outs.
To put it simply, they must raise cash by either selling big or clearing the wage-bill by releasing high-paying stars before they can even think of setting their eyes on decent transfer targets.
As has often been the case in recent windows, the best pricetags can be boasted for those players who have plenty of potential and are not yet tied down to a lucrative wage package.
At Old Trafford Alejandro Garncho and Kobbie Mainoo both fit the bill well and have been linked with potential exits. One of them, in particular, has courted purported interest from Chelsea. Having said that, United have made their stance clear and they mean business.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea must offer a deal in the range of £70 million in order for the side to take a potential sale of Kobbie Mainoo seriously.
“I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones. I’m really happy with Kobbie”

While this can be interpreted as saying that the English starlet is not for sale, it also makes clear that for the right amount, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s board may sanction any outbound transfer.
This goes alongside the ongoing fresh contract renewal negotiations with the 19-year-old, with an equally eye-watering £200,000-a-week deal purportedly being discussed. Having said that, some reports also suggest that some sort of a deal has been struck by all parties regarding the midfielder continuing at Old Trafford.
It is easy to see why. In his breakthrough games under Erik ten Hag Mainoo easily established himself as a reliant midfielder and while Ruben Amorim is still perfecting how best to deploy him, a long-term deal gives the starlet plenty of time to stamp his presence with the new-look formation.
