Paul Pogba ready to take wage cut to play for European giants
Former Juventus and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is willing to take a wage cut to join Olympique de Marseille, as per reports.
Winter transfer windows in Europe’s biggest leagues have closed yet Pogba remains without a club.
The Frenchman hasn’t played professional football since September 2023 following a four-year doping ban. The said ban was reduced to 18 months upon appeal and Pogba can resume playing in March of this year.
However, he reached a mutual agreement with Juventus to terminate his contract in November. The development led to several clubs being linked with the World Cup winning midfielder during the winter window.
Paul Pogba keen on joining Marseille
Marseille director of football Mehdi Benatia revealed in an interview that the Ligue 1 outfit considered a move for the 31-year-old.
Now a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins suggests Pogba is prepared to take a wage cut to play under Roberto De Zerbi.
Hawkins further reveals that the dynamic midfielder was contacted by Marseille this winter and his possible signing was even approved by De Zerbi.

Whether Les Phocéens would renew their interest in signing Pogba in the summer remains unclear but the player seems ready to resume his stalled career in Europe despite interest from the MLS and SPL outfits.
Recently, Rio Ferdinand urged United manager Ruben Amorim to hand Pogba an opportunity to train at Carrington.
“I’d say to Pogba, ‘Come in and train with us, let me see what you’ve got’. I’d do that. I would have done that already. Come in and get fit,” Ferdinand said via his own YouTube channel.
