Andre Onana to start for Manchester United against Lyon
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana will return to the starting lineup against Olympique Lyonnais.
Onana has come under heavy fire for his recent performances for United.
Early this month, the 29-year-old was at fault for Anthony Elanga’s winning goal for Nottingham Forest, as his poor positioning allowed the Swede to slot the ball into the bottom right corner.
The Cameroon international was even more frustrating against Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals. He committed two goal-leading errors against the home side in the 2-2 draw.
Amid intense scrutiny, Ruben Amorim dropped Onana from his matchday squad to face Newcastle United over the weekend.
Altay Bayındır stepped in to replace Onana between the sticks but the Turkish goalkeeper was not any better, conceding four goals in what was a very shaky outing.

Amorim clearly doesn’t trust Bayındır for his side’s most important game of the season, as Onana is set to be included in the starting lineup for the second-leg clash against Lyon at Old Trafford.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game, the United head coach said: “Onana is ready. He had one weekend, I felt it was better for him not to play… my thinking was to put Onana to play.”

The performance against Lyon this Thursday could go a long way in deciding the ex-Inter Milan star’s future at the club.
There are already suggestions that United are in the market for a new goalkeeper. According to The Sun, the Mancunians are monitoring Southampton star Aaron Ramsdale heading into the summer.
Considering the former Arsenal man has now three relegations on his CV, United would be better off exploring the market for another more reliable option.
