How much Manchester United will have to pay to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford

Brentford have rejected Manchester United’s improved offer for Bryan Mbeumo.

United launched their opening offer for Mbeumo early in June, reported to be worth £45million plus £10m in add-ons.

However, the proposal fell some way short of Brentford’s valuation. At the time, it was suggested the Bees want United to pay around £62.5m — a figure the Red Devils paid to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reveals that Brentford have rejected United’s second proposal at £55m and £7.5m of bonuses, as they are aiming to exceed Cunha’s fee.

The two clubs remain in talks to find a solution, with the 25-year-old keen on moving to Old Trafford this summer. It is claimed the Cameroon international has informed Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur of his decision to sign for United if he makes a transfer this summer.

Brentford’s demands for Mbeumo revealed

According to journalist Duncan Castles, Brentford value their talisman at £70 million.

Mbeumo has 12 months left to run on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium and the London outfit have an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

Over the last 24 months, Mbeumo has been one of the Premier League’s most potent attackers, having impressed with his technical prowess and physicality. He scored 20 goals in the league last season.

As such, Brentford’s reluctance to part ways with the Cameroonian without a fight is understandable.

It is suggested that Manchester United have funds to sign Mbeumo without requiring sales in advance. However, INEOS plan to remain disciplined and avoid overpaying for players in the market.

Last summer, United stood their ground on their valuation of Jarrad Branthwaite after Everton turned down their two bids for the centre-back.
