Manchester United secured a convincing 2-1 win over PSG at the Parc des Princes.

The Red Devils did not falter as fans feared in the build-up to the game. While they certainly had their flaws, the team was dramatically different from the one that was doomed to collapse against the Ligue 1 giants given what Tottenham Hotspur had done before the international break.

An Anthony Martial own-goal was the only consolation that the home side had to their name as it was a Bruno Fernandes’ penalty and Marcus Rashford’s late goal that settled everything.

However, to reduce the fixture to only those three goals would be criminal.

In particular, the scoreline did not reflect the defensive brilliance that went into the game.

United’s backline did an excellent job, with the back-three, as well as the flankmen, getting actively involved.

This was especially the case when it came to curtailing Kylian Mbappe’s lethal attacking intent. Aaron Wan-Bissaka arguably did the best job at it, effectively pocketing the Frenchman.

Twitter took good notice of the same and the reactions say it all.

Wan-Bissaka’s game keeps improving and fixtures like these show just how good he has gotten at balancing both aspects of the game. This makes him the sort of complete full-back that United desperately need to compete at the top level.

Further still, Wan-Bissaka also adds an excellent attacking element and his effort at Newcastle United said it all.

As for Neymar Jr, the Brazilian’s long journeys during the international break and the resultant fatigue certainly seemed to be there and be quite prominent. That made the Englishman’s job all the more easier.

Credit also has to be given to the midfield pivot of Scott McTominay and Fred as well in neutralizing the damage that Neymar and Mbappe could have wreaked.
