Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seen the coherence of his attacking system disrupted by the inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo in the frontline. Now, the arrival of the Portuguese could ultimately led to the Norwegian losing his job.

The much-hyped return of Ronaldo has amplified the pressure on the United boss to deliver a major trophy this season.

However, his side’s current form, including a thumping 4-2 beating at the hands of Leicester City, has widened the gap between United and the trio of Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man City.

There have been suggestions to drop the former Real Madrid superstar, but a recent report from Spain indicates Solskjaer might not be in charge of making such a bold decision for long.

According to El Chiringuito, the Premier League giants have been in contact with Zinedine Zidane, interestingly, on the recommendation of Ronaldo.

The 36-year-old completed the three-peat in the Champions League under the management of Zidane, who has proven he’s capable of successfully handling the pressure of managing and getting the best out of a star-studded team.

As such, if the United legend does get the sack, the Frenchman, who’s available in the market, will be the favourite to take charge at the helm of Old Trafford.

Ronaldo, and other superstars at United, are right to expect more from Solskjaer, but to compete at the highest level they need to step up their own game as well, even if the current manager steps aside for another big-name tactician.
