Manchester United Agree Four-Year Deal With Solskjaer’s Favourite

Manchester United have agreed a new four-year contract with one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-choice players.

Solskjaer failed to win any trophy during his near three-year stint at the helm at Old Trafford, but some of his good work has helped Erik ten Hag deliver encouraging results, including a silverware, so early in his reign. In his very first press conference, the former Ajax man highlighted the squad he’s inheriting has the “potential”, as they finished second the season before.

The Norwegian’s man-management helped a number of struggling United players to find their best level. Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw both established themselves as regulars following their uncertain status under Jose Mourinho. This season, the English duo have been among Ten Hag’s first-choice picks.

Shaw, who not only thrived at left-back but also played as a left-sided centre-back under Solskjaer, lauded the club legend’s handling of him – both on and off the pitch.

According to The Athletic, the 27-year-old has now agreed to extend his stay at the club, agreeing to sign a four-year contract. The Red Devils triggered the one-year option clause in his contract in December.

Speaking ahead of United’s first league game post March international break, Ten Hag said he’s unaware of the development but “definitely” wants to keep Shaw in his team. The England international has featured in 35 games in all competitions so far under the Dutchman.

United are also planning on extending the contract of another Solskjaer favourite, Rashford.
