Manchester United are heading into the summer transfer window without a guarantee of Champions League football and doubts over who will be the owner of the club in August.

Regardless, it’s being suggested the Premier League giants are advanced in pursuit of Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae.

According to Il Mattino (via SportWitness), intermediaries have convinced the league winner to move to Old Trafford, and now it’s just a ‘matter of details’.

Kim Min-jae convinced to sign for Manchester United

He has a release clause between £43m and £52m in his contract. As such, United don’t have to negotiate much with Napoli.

The 26-year-old has been one of Napoli’s stand-out players in their Serie A triumph after more than three decades.

Although it’s not viewed as a priority area of concern, his arrival could greatly improve the side’s strength in depth. The versatile right-footed defender can play on both sides of defence, allowing United boss to rotate both Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane without any significant drop in quality. He’s also an upgrade on the latter in possession.

It is added that intermediaries are also working on Victor Osimhen’s transfer to United or elsewhere in the Premier League.

Osimhen is the only player in Naples who has convincingly performed better than Kim Min-jae. He is expected to attract plenty of interest this summer, but it’s thought the Red Devils are leading the race for the number nine, who has scored 23 league goals so far this season.
