Manchester United set to make their second signing as star player confirms exit
Manchester United are reportedly set to sign Andre Onana next week, having already cut ties with David de Gea.
The Spaniard became a free agent on June 30 after United allegedly backed out of an agreed proposal. However, his return wasn’t ruled out until early this week, as United were open to holding face-to-face talks to find a resolution.
Now the final decision has been made with the 32-year-old announcing he’s departing Old Trafford after 12 years. His 545th and final appearance for United ended on a disappointing note, as he dropped an underwhelming performance in his side’s 2-1 FA Cup final defeat at Wembley.
Having said that, he leaves the club as a legend with multiple trophies and the club’s clean sheet record to his name. “We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club,” he wrote in his farewell message.
Manchester United working on bringing De Gea’s replacement
United are now focused on adding a new number 1 – ideally before the start of the pre-season tour to the US. At the moment, Tom Heaton is the only reliable shot-stopper at Erik ten Hag’s disposal and is likely to start against Leeds United next week in Oslo, Norway.
The next week should also see the Red Devils formally add a new keeper to their ranks. As per the Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler, United are set to sign Onana next week after ‘agreeing terms’ with Inter Milan.

Onana, who previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax, is admired by the Dutch coach for his composure with the ball at his feet and proactiveness without it. The arrival of the 27-year-old should allow the manager to push his backline higher up the field. The Inter star has already agreed terms to reunite with his former boss.
