Omari Forson could leave Manchester United for free at the end of the season after failing to find an agreement over a new contract.
The Red Devils aim to trim their squad come the summer to improve their wage bill and open spots for new potential signings. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial have so far not been offered a new deal and are both expected to leave on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, plenty of reports have suggested that United also intend to offload Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Antony. However, Forson could also depart despite the club wanting to keep him on their books.
Omari Forson rejects Manchester United contract
According to Manchester Evening News, Omari Forson remains in talks with Manchester United over a new contract but it is becoming ‘increasingly likely’ that the 19-year-old forward ‘could leave this year.’ He turned down the latest contract offer made to him.
His current contract expires in June, meaning United will get no fee should they don’t manage to find a resolution with his representatives.
Forson, who made his senior debut against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup, is attracting interest from a number of clubs, including those in the Premier League. He has been free to talk to clubs outside England since January.
As such, United may have to offer him assurances over playing time to change his mind. The English talent came off the bench in stoppage time against Wigan and remained an unused sub against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and Bayern Munich and Copenhagen in the Champions League.
With Martial now unavailable for around 10 weeks after undergoing surgery on a groin injury, Forson should get several opportunities if he’s really rated by the United manager. If things remain the same, it’s best for him to depart to continue his development elsewhere.
