Kobbie Mainoo reacts to Man United’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool
Manchester United’s 2-2 draw to Liverpool was certainly a mixed affair. The side had entered the fixture on the back of a disappointing last second defeat away to Chelsea.
Liverpool meanwhile had the game as a must-win in order to ensure a top-placed finish to the gameweek with Arsenal and Manchester City in close pursuit.
After Alejandro Garnacho’s early goal was ruled offside it was Liverpool who dominated the half with Erik ten Hag’s men incapable of registering even a single shot on target and the visitors walking away with the lead from Luis Diaz’ opener.
In the second half, Bruno Fernandes capitalized from an error and fashioned a goal out of nowhere to equalize for the home side. All looked nice and dandy when Kobbie Mainoo put the Red Devils in the driving seat with a world-class goal.
However, it was Mo Salah who had the last laugh as his penalty equalized everything for a side who are now all but forced to win every single game in order to have a chance at securing the title they were momentarily favourites at.
After the fixture when Mainoo was asked about his feelings, he did not mince words, stating (via Sky Sports): “I’m disappointed, to be honest. At the end of the day, we didn’t get three points, so I can’t be too happy.”
Kobbie Mainoo did not look at the goal at all as he spun to take his shot before he scored. Different class ✨

To have an 18-year-old express these frank opinions speaks volumes about where the club is at in terms of overall quality and hunger for success.
With the sole point, United are now still quite far from the European football spots and West Ham United is creeping worryingly close as well.
Mainoo has been a standout positive for the squad this campaign but it remains to be seen whether the club alters to his strengths and potential in the months to come.
