After Leny Yoro, Manchester United set to challenge Real Madrid for €20m star

Manchester United and Real Madrid are both monitoring Sevilla talent Juanlu Sanchez.

The two European powerhouses went toe to toe for Leny Yoro earlier this summer, with the Red Devils eventually winning the race for the highly-rated Lille centre-back.

United secured Yoro’s signature by agreeing to pay €62 million plus a potential €8m in add-ons to the Ligue 1 outfit. Los Blancos, meanwhile, decided against making a move for another defender after missing out on the Frenchman.

The summer transfer window is behind us and now both clubs are making plans for future transfer windows. Interestingly, it seems they may find themselves chasing the same player once again.

Juanlu Sanchez on Manchester United and Real Madrid’s radar

According to Spanish outlet AS, Manchester United followed Juanlu Sanchez during the Paris Olympics this summer.

The 21-year-old, who is capable of playing as a right-sided attacker, was deployed as a right-back for Spain in Paris. La Roja eventually picked the gold medal in Paris.

The Spain U21 international’s versatility has also been maximized by Sevilla manager García Pimienta, who has used him in midfield.

The report (via Sport Witness) adds that the youngster’s physicality, pace as well, as technical prowess have also convinced Madrid to keep an eye on his progress.

However, United are expected to “continue to monitor” Sanchez and AS suggests they are to “compete with” the Spanish giants for him.

The Spaniard is tied to a contract until 2026 in Seville. However, the contract includes a €20m clause, making it easier for the likes of United and Madrid to sign him if they are seriously interested in his services.

Sevilla, meanwhile, are interested in handing him a new deal with an improved release clause.
