According to England based media outlet Express, Manchester United flop Memphis Depay might be moving to Serie A giants AC Milan permanently in the summer of 2016.

Memphis Depay joined English giants Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2015. The Manchester-based club signed the winger for a fee of £25m, successfully beating bitter rivals Liverpool to his signature.

A lot was expected from Depay from both the coaches and the fans, after being given the club’s iconic number 7 shirt. But, after showing initial promise, he fizzled out and had an underwhelming season.

Depay was named as the “Best Young Player” in the world in 2015 by France Football. His playing style has earned him acclaim, with fans, media, and former players drawing comparison to Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

He began his professional career with PSV Eindhoven, where, under the influence of manager Phillip Cocu, he became an integral part of the team, scoring 50 goals in 124 games across all competitions.

During the 2015-2016 season, Depay even had the third-highest shirt sales in the world, behind Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, according to online retailer Kitbag.

According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, AC Milan want Depay on a loan deal in January before they finalise the permanent transfer in the summer.

Milan, who recently got taken over by a Chinese consortium, are going to make use of the newly acquired cash reserves by bidding £24m for Memphis Depay.
