Modric – who is currently out with a knee injury – has been with Los Blancos since 2012. He arrived from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee in the region of £30 million, and has since become a crucial figure to the La Liga giants, and also a fan favourite at the Bernabeu.
News of the midfielder’s new contract comes just days after Real confirmed that Toni Kroos had signed a new six-year deal with the club, which would run till 2022. Earlier this week, reports also emerged suggesting Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo are next in line for new deals in the coming weeks.
Real are keen to tie their core players down to new contracts, and have certainly been swift in doing just that.
