Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly placed right-backs high on his list of priorities for the January window, according to ESPN.

The Red Devils were heavily linked with Monaco full-back Fabinho towards the end of this summer, but a move never materialised, as United had already signed the four players that Mourinho had requested for.

But now, new reports are flooding in, claiming that Jose Mourinho is still interested in bringing a full-back to Old Trafford during the winter, with Fabinho and Seamus Coleman both high up on his list of targets.

So far, Jose Mourinho has used Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian as right-backs in his squad, although he is keen to offload the latter as soon as possible, with Inter Milan believed to have made contact.

Antonio Valencia, who initially began his career playing as a winger, has done a decent job for United this season, but Mourinho will need to have an alternative option to provide competition for the Ecuadorian.

Jose Mourinho spent close to £150 million last summer, even breaking the world transfer record for Paul Pogba. However, Mourinho didn’t think that a right-back was necessary at the time, but now, with the January transfer window fast approaching, Mourinho has decided to address this area.

Monaco have reportedly placed a €40 million price tag on Fabinho to keep clubs like Manchester United from making a move. Therefore, Jose Mourinho could seek Everton’s Seamus Coleman as a cheaper alternative to the 22-year-old Monaco man.

Jose Mourinho travels to Stamford Bridge tomorrow as he faces his former side Chelsea in one of the most anticipated matches of the season. He is expected to start Antonio Valencia in his right-back position, with Daley Blind being deployed on the left.
