James Rodriguez could still move to Manchester United, according to reports.

The Real Madrid midfielder had been constantly linked with a switch to the Red Devils in the summer, but the club’s pursuit of the star came to nothing, and he remained at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite their failure to sign Rodriguez, reports suggest that United have not given up, and continue to chase the Colombian, with a bid expected to be made by the Old Trafford outfit in January.

Rodriguez has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu under manager Zinedine Zidane. He has made just seven appearances for the club this season – three of them coming off the bench. He did manage to bag two goals and two assists in those games, but they haven’t been enough to convince Zidane of his capabilities.

Having lost his place in the side, James could be on the lookout for a new club in January, and United could prove to be the perfect destination.

The Mancunian giants have had a torrid start to the season, and are struggling in the creativity department, with world record signing Paul Pogba coming up short in the games he has played so far.

Real have demanded a fee in the region of £72 million for the midfielder, but price has never been an issue with United, who are willing to pay big money for the world-class players Jose Mourinho claims he is currently short of.

Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Arsenal have also shown an interest in signing the attacking midfielder, but United are said to be favourites to sign the player due to his connections with super agent Jorge Mendes, who represents United manager Jose Mourinho as well.

Spanish news outlet Don Balon claim a move for Rodriguez could be on United’s mind. The club is desperate to recover lost ground on their cross-town rivals Manchester City as the season approaches its midway point, and signing Rodriguez could prove to be a statement of intent.
