Manchester United Lure Scouts From Rivals Manchester City
Manchester United have recruited two scouts from their neighboring rivals Manchester City, as a part of resurrecting their scouting system.
As per the Telegraph, it is understood that two scouts, Dave Harrison and Lyndon Tomlinson, are currently on gardening leave, and will begin their new roles at Manchester United on January 1. Both of these scouts were phenomenal in developing Manchester City’s scouting system in the last few years.
Manchester United have started their grassroots development even in the form of scouts, and it is clear that first team and academy recruitment are of the same concern.
The two scouts will start their job from the New Year, but their roles are currently unknown. However, both of them are in line to work with Academy head Nicky Butt and his colleagues.
Both Harrison and Tomlinson previously worked together at Manchester City in the youth scouting and recruitment unit. And it is no surprise that Manchester City have already started their work to keep their scouts, by offering improved contracts to ensure such an incident doesn’t happen in future.

Marcel Bout, who worked as an opposition scout under Louis van Gaal, has been promoted as the head of global scouting for the Red Devils. Nolan Partners, who has been working with Manchester United since last year, reported that it was the best scouting drive in club’s history. More than 40 staffs were appointed at both academy level and first team level.
Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward has been working behind the scenes in bringing the best scouts to the club. It is clear that Woodward sanctioned the deal as soon as the ideal scouts were identified as a part of expanding the club’s strength by all means.
