Burnley to Raid Barnsely For Center-Back

According to reports from the Sun, Burnley FC might be ready to add Barnsley center-back Marc Roberts to their side come the transfer window.

Burnley, under Sean Dyches, are currently playing in their first season back in the Premier League, and look ready to battle it out to survive.

However, with a few key players like Michael Keane attracting attention from big clubs who are showing interest in taking him away in the transfer window, Burnley might have to dip their hands in the market and look for additions that will strengthen their squad, and not let the gaps created by players leaving damage them.

Will Keane, the under-21 England defender, has impressed one and all since leaving Manchester United permanently in 2015.

Keane has been in the eyes of the big clubs for a while, with Burnley even rejecting an £18m bid from Leicester in June.

However, it might be tougher to hold on to the player this upcoming window, and Burnley Chairman Mike Garlick admits that might be the case.

The chairman was quoted saying: “We want him to stay for the long term, that’s for sure, so we’d like to think so.”

Marc Roberts, aged 26, is yet to feature in the top flight, but has been super impressive so far for Barnsley. Before joining the Championship side, Roberts only had experience of playing non-league football, but has since improved his quality to match it to the expectations of higher leagues.

With Burnley looking to build and solidify their place in the league, a young English center-back with high ambitions and promise might be the perfect answer for them.
